At 3:51 pm, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Kirker Pass Road near Nortonville in the City of Pittsburg.
While responding, multiple callers reported smoke observed from Railroad.
Upon closer investigation, the fire was bumping up against a fence along Hillview Drive. The fire was determined to be in the open space between Hillview and Quercus Lane threatening homes off Buchanan.
Structure protection responses were dispatched to both Hillview and Pheasant Drive as a precaution due to steep slope and moderate spread of the fire.

Forward progress has been stopped. Any additional units still responding now cancelled. Fire estimated at 5 acres. 3 sheds were also destroyed, but no homes were damaged.
