Firefighters Battle Pair of Overnight Fires in the City of Antioch

At 5:37 am Tuesday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a commercial structure fire with flames coming through the roof at an automotive shop on 2nd Street near K St.

Upon arrival, Engine 81 reported smoke coming from inside and open making access located two vehicles on fire inside the building with flames making its way to the roof. Firefighters then made quick attack and extinguished the fire before structure damage could occur.

According to Battalion Chief 8, early indications were there were nothing suspicious about the fire in nature which occurred at Juanitos Auto Body.

As of 6:30 am, 2nd Street in Antioch was blocked off as crews were still working the scene.

Detached Garage Fire on Evergreen

At 10:58 pm Monday, firefighters responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 1900 block of Evergreen Ave in the City of Antioch.

A medical helicopter was requested to the scene after a report of two people inside the structure with screaming. The helicopter was later cancelled after it was determined to be a dog inside the home.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a detached garage on fire and knocked it out. The fire was likely caused by squatters per CONFIRE.
