At 2:28 pm Wednesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming from the area of E 18th Street in the City of Antioch.
While responding, crews observed a large column of black smoke. Upon further investigation, they located a 25-ft trailer on fire inside a towing junk yard on Wymore Way near the Antioch Youth Sports Complex.
The fire quickly spread to additional vehicles and other debris sending additional smoke into the air.
As of 2:48 pm, crews were battling a water supply issue and had a difficult time getting water to the fire due to a hydrant issue. The fire was also sending smoke into high tension lines and PG&E was requested.
By 3:15 pm, the fire was getting “good” knock down but crews will be on scene for a while for overall and trying to work on a water supply issue.
