by ECT

At 6:53 am Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire behind a church in the 300 block of E 12th Street in the City of Pittsburg.

While responding, Truck 84’s crew called it a working fire after observing a large column of black smoke and flames scene from a mile out.

Truck 84 requested a 2-alarm response after a two-story building under construction was on fire and getting into the existing church. Pittsburg Police were requested for traffic control.

By 7:03 am, it was reported that a wood structure was fully involved attached to the existing building. There was also a partial collapse of the exterior.

By 7:18 am, CONFIRE reported they were in defensive fire attack.

As of 8:24 am, the fire was knocked down.
