The following is a sampling of the Pittsburg Police Calls reported between February 20-26 which focuses on the higher priority call responses in the City of Pittsburg.
This week, the Antioch and Pittsburg Police Departments announced they nabbed a serial purse snatcher. Pittsburg police announced the arrest of a Masaiyah Sharp in connection with several strong-arm purse snatch robberies in the City of Antioch and City of Pittsburg. The case was later presented to the District Attorney’s Office, who filed (7) counts of robbery, (2) counts of elder abuse, and (1) count of child abuse against Masaiyah.
Also during this week, Pittsburg Police Officers began speaking with the man through the locked door, but he refused to exit the room at Hampton Inn located on California Avenue Knowing the man was experiencing mental health difficulties, officers contacted the department’s Crisis Intervention Team, which contains police officers specially trained in working with subjects who are going through a mental health crisis and need assistance. Officers additionally requested assistance from the Contra Costa County Mental Health Evaluation Team (MHET) and the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) to communicate with the man. Full Story >>
