What is attracting so many people on probation or warrants to Antioch?

RJB! Feb 28, 2016 - 11:21 am

New law that allowed the release of more criminals to their family.

Their family resides in section 8 homes. Antioch is the section 8 capital of California and possibly the western side of USA.

Plus our great and competent mayor, in my opinion, is soft on crime, especially his own kind.

1. Life sentences for ALL crimes committed (to minimize any occurrence of repeat crimes);
2. ALL government assistance revoked from the country to minimize tax-leaching and citizen dependence (section 8, food stamps, retirement);
3. Public executions/floggings/humiliation (to send a message that our leaders are tough on crime).

Any other game-changers to add to the table, RJB?

Unfortunately when I read about people having firearms on them, I don’t automatically assume they want to actively look for someone to kill; but I understand (just like other concealed carry supporting citizens say) that having a firearm for protection is evident because of what has happened to them in the past.

Don't Hire A Scammer Feb 28, 2016 - 10:44 am

As noted elsewhere, police in other areas are already issuing warnings of driveway/roofing repair scams, where people show up claiming to have “extra” material and want to repair your home:
CITIZENS BEWARE: Unfortunately warmer weather brings out the scam artists. We have received reports of a driveway scam in our area. One of our citizens called to report they had been scammed out of a significant amount of money by two men who told them they could resurface their driveway. However, after they paid the men (more than they had originally agreed upon because they felt intimidated) the men left. However, the next day the mixture used for the patch work had already washed out of the cracks of the victim’s driveway. Unfortunately, these scam artists pray on unsuspecting citizens. The best rule to follow is to not allow anyone, no matter how sad their story is, to do repair work, lawn care, or other services, unsolicited. LPD reminds citizens to contact a reputable company if they need repair work or other services performed. Police ask that this message be sent on to those who may not have access to social media, especially the elderly. If you see this type of work being performed or you have been victimized by a scam artist you are encouraged to contact your local police department to make them aware this same type of activity may be going on in your area.–CBS19

This will be happening all over the country as Spring sets in. Our neighborhood has seen one such person already.

APD puts up with a lot of crap. Thanks to AB 109 more and more convicts are being released from state prisons. Now also, Prop 47 simply means a slap on the wrist. Being in possession of a stolen firearm worth less than $950 and you are only looking at misdemeanor charges. I am surprised to read about so many shots fired calls. Arm yourselves people, Antioch is a warzone.
