by ECT

On October 5, 2015 at 7:30 pm a concerned parent contacted the Fairfield Police Department to report that she’d been made aware of a threatening Twitter post that was made earlier in the evening. Officers conducted an investigation and identified a 15 year-old Vanden HS student that had posted a photo of himself holding a rifle. The photo included a caption threatening harm to people at the Vanden High School campus today.

Shortly after 10:00 pm Fairfield Officers contacted the suspect at a home in Vacaville, confirmed he was the person in the threatening photo holding a gun, and took him safely into custody. The firearm, determined to be a .22 caliber rifle, was located a short time later at another family member’s residence and has been taken as evidence. The suspect was booked for making criminal threats.

Due to the suspect being a juvenile, his identity is being withheld.

From the beginning of this investigation, the Fairfield Police Department worked closely with the School Resource Officer assigned to Vanden High School, as well as officials with the Travis Unified School District to ensure a quick and thorough assessment and investigation of these allegations. This investigation is on-going, and no additional information is available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department’s Major Crime Unit at (707)428-7600, the 24-hour Tip Line at (707)428-7345, or Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-7867. Callers can remain anonymous.
