During the month of April, the El Campanil Theatre has a series of events from music to comedy to an illusion show.


 

April 9: Fleetwood Mask, The Ultimate Tribute To Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood maskFleetwood Mask is a Fleetwood Mac tribute band formed out of a mutual love and respect for Fleetwood Mac’s music and story. Fleetwood Mask band authentically recreates the Fleetwood Mac concert experience, covering music that spans from the mid 60’s to the band’s latest releases, as well as Stevie Nicks’ solo smash hits. Fans go wild when they hear “Landslide,” “Say You Love Me,” “Songbird,” “Gypsy” and more. Get ready to be blown away and be asking for more.


 

April 15: Rocky LaPorte, Finalist NBC’s Last Comic Standing

Rocky LaPorteRocky LaPorte’s appeal comes from his everyman, streetwise style of comedy. Delivering laughs in his trademark Brooklyn accent, he has become one of the most sought after comedians in the country, and he just recently appeared on on the season 8 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing! Rocky received 5th place out of 10 contestants. A former Chicago truck driver and dock worker, Rocky has accumulated a slew of performances throughout his career, including being a featured comic on Showtime‘s The Godfathers of Comedy, a special starring five of America’s most hilarious Italian-American comics.

Opening for Rocky, is local comedy favorite Johnny Steele.


April 17: Nelson Illusions, Largest Touring Illusion Show In the USA

Nelson IllusionsNelson Illusions is the largest touring illusion show in the United States, featuring the largest illusion ever seen: the 21-foot-long Drill of Death, which goes through a woman and lifts her 18 feet in the air!

This one-of-a-kind theatrical spectacle combines rare and original illusions from around the world with award-winning, jaw-dropping magic and features four Master Magicians, each with an exciting, engaging, original style.

Jungle BookCome hear the incredible tale of Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves.  With the help of his friends — the bear Baloo, the panther Bagheera and the python Kaa — Mowgli learns the ways of the jungle.  Some of the jungle boy’s adventures are gripping, like the time he encounters the hooded cobra who guards the treasure vault in the Deserted City.  Others, like the coconut-tossing monkeys who take him prisoner, are hysterical.  But the jungle is also dangerous, for it is the home of Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger who has vowed to destroy Mowgli.  With his fawning jackal follower, Shere Khan plots to take control of the jungle.  Mowgli must use all his strength and courage to stop Shere Khan before it is too late.

April 30: The Ray Charles Project

Ray Charles​In tribute to the genius of Ray Charles, a swinging sextet of outstanding Bay Area musicians offers their take on some of the highlights from Ray’s amazing songbook. A band of prominent musicians is perpetuating that legacy and bringing his music to San Francisco. The band is a meeting of elite jazz and blues musicians including 11-time GRAMMY® Award winner and Santana vocalist Tony Lindsay, noted Bay Area guitarist Chris Cain & soul filled vocals from Glenn Walters. A talent-packed rhythm section will back them, including Hammond B-3 player Dave Mathews, bassist DeWayne Pate and drummer Deszon Claiborne.


May 1: The Ballet Company of East County,  Alice In Wonderland

Alice In Wonderland is a timeless tale full of whimsy and imagination.  The Ballet Company of East County will dazzle audiences with costumes, props and their dancing! ​

Glad to see the historic building known as the El Campanil Theatre can bring people and revenue to the downtown. Will the town square project do the same? Vote wisely Antioch.
