Deer Valley Student Says She Escapes Abduction Attempt By Kicking Male Subject

by ECT

Deer Valley High School sent out notices warning parents this week of a possible abduction attempt of a female student.

Assistant Superintendent Stephanie Anello says the incident occurred Thursday afternoon with Principal Ken Gardner alerting parents Friday.

According to Principal Gardner, a female student was walking home from school when a man in a gold mid-sized car pulled up next to her. As the man approached the student, she kicked the man and ran away.

Antioch Police were notified and no further details have been provided.  Assistant Superintendent Anello provided us with the principals message:

Good Afternoon,

This is Ken Gardner, Principal of DVHS with an important safety announcement. Today, a parent reported that yesterday, following dismissal, their child was walking home when a suspicious male driving a gold, mid-size car pulled up alongside her. The male stopped the car and asked her to come over to him. According to the parent, she did not and the male exited his car and approached her. According to the parent, the child then kicked the man and ran from the scene. APD had been notified. Please remind your children to be cautious when traveling to and from school and, whenever possible, to walk or travel with other students. We will update you should further information become available.
