by ECT

Daveion Cornelious

On Thursday afternoon at approx 10:50 am, Antioch Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle reportedly occupied by a male armed with a firearm. The suspect (Corneilious Daveion, 19) failed to stop and led officers on a short pursuit in the immediate area. During this pursuit, Daveion attempted to ram a patrol vehicle, and then rammed two citizen vehicle’s in his way.

Daveion slowed, exited his vehicle brandishing a gun. He shot at an officer in a patrol vehicle immediately behind him, but missed. The officer in turn struck Daveioin with his patrol vehicle, knocking him to the ground and knocking the gun out of his hand. Daveion fled on foot but was apprehended approx ½ mile away at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds.

At this time there does not appear to be any injuries to officers or citizens. Daveion sustained only minor injuries from the incident and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for multiple charges, including attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, and associated weapons charges.

Daveion has a short criminal history as an adult, but was out on felony bail for a burglary arrest in March of this year.

Hoping the Powers that Be keep him off the streets for a very long time. And we don’t want to hear how he was “turning his life around”.

When will people learn that you do not shoot at police and do not run from them. Only bad things happen. Remember, it was only a few weeks ago where PD killed a suspect for fleeing and shooting at them. This guy got lucky because cops don’t miss.

Antioch PD, you are doing a great job and our household supports you!

Everyone knows that if you shoot at a cop you’re going to get taken out. He should be thankful his ass is in jail and not in the morgue.

Great job again, APD. I hope that the liberal criminal loving county DA will choose to prosecute this criminal and not allow him to plea bargain his crime down to a probation.

Very glad to know that we have officers on board with the level of professionalism and restraint it takes to not have shot and killed this man.
