Contra Costa Sheriffs Office Nabs Wrong-Way Highway 4 Driver in Pittsburg After Vehicle Crash

On Thursday, May 20, 2021, at approximately 2:49 P.M., Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriffs attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a truck on Railroad Avenue in the city of Pittsburg. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. The Deputies terminated the pursuit when the driver entered the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 in the wrong direction.

The suspect vehicle became disabled after colliding with two other vehicles, and the driver fled on foot.

The suspect attempted to force his way into passing vehicles. The suspect eventually forced one motorist to drive him to a nearby business complex near the 100 block of Bliss Avenue in Pittsburg. The suspect was taken into custody after an extensive search. Deputies searched the suspect’s vehicle, and approximately one pound of methamphetamine was located inside. Two civilians motorists complained of pain due to the vehicle collision and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect was identified as 35-year old Nathen Parscal of Pittsburg.

Parscal is being held without bail on charges to include: felony evading, kidnapping, carjacking, false imprisonment, possession and transportation of a controlled substance, and a parole violation.
