Contra Costa Fire Responds to Pair of Tuesday Morning Vegetation Fires in Antioch

On Tuesday morning, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a pair of vegetation fires in the City of Antioch.

The first fire broke out at 10:31 am in the area of SR-160 and Highway 4 Connector where crews located a 1/4 acre vegeation fire which was blowing smoke across the freeway. The fire was located off Oakley Road. Engine 82 reported forward progress was stopped and the fire was knocked down by 10:49 am.

At second fire broke out at 10:54 am, when firefighters observed smoke in the area of 2200 block of E 18th and a full vegetation fire was dispatched. Upon arrival of Battalion 8, he reported that 1/4 acre to 1/2 acre of vegetation was on fire along with a burn pile and garbage. This fire was protected by two roadways.  The fire was contained at 3/4 acre by 11:12 am.

Crews were expected to remain on scene of both incidents for a while due to mop up.

This comes as CONFIRE responded to a house fire Monday night where a male was found deceased inside along with three dogs in the city of Antioch. That fire broke out at 8:06 pm on Serpentine Drive.  No other information on that fire has been released
