At 4:12 pm, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to vegetation fire on the hill behind Wexler Peak Way in Antioch. Firefighters went offensive on the fire to protect homes with crews based on Snowmass Peak Ct. and Shavano Peak Ct. and at the top of the hill. Crews ultimately limited the to under 3-acres and were on scene for 1-hour and 43-minutes.
It should be noted, that CONFIRE also responded to a residential structure on D. Street in Antioch that was reported at 4:22 pm. This was a kitchen fire where something exploded and injured one person. Crews were on scene for this fire for 2-hours and 6-minutes. With limited resources, ECCFPD Engine 93 lent an assist, however, they were quickly released upon arrival.
Both fires are under investigation.
