Duran said in an email the survey was for reference which was a report on the Community Priorities Survey the City recently commissioned, which was released to the City Council this week. The survey was conducted by FM3 out of Oakland.

The methodology shows that 400 live telephone interviews with Antioch residents conducted between July 17-21, 2016.

According to the survey, 75% of residents crime (in general) either an extremely or very serious problem while 72% also felt gangs and youth violence were a problem.  The survey also showed that 62%  had the same opinion of the city’s homeless population while a lack of a good job in the local area was at 59%.

The survey showed that 53% of those surveyed considered  an empty downtown an extremely or very serious problem while waste in government came in at 46%.

This survey highlights why Antioch needs change in leadership from the Mayor down to the school board.

I hope voters will support Ogorchock for Mayor and Ken Turnage and Lamar Thorpe for council.

And how much did this survey cost the tax payers???? This is ridiculous, the information here echoes the very same concerns people voice in the Council Meetings.

Are our City leaders that out of touch with reality that they felt a survey needed to be done to find out what the citizens are concerned about? All they had to do was listen to what the same citizens are concerned about during the Council Meetings.

We already knew this, did we not? But someone paid for the survey. OK, now change is needed. Time to vote for change. We can’t get down the road on flat tires.

Duran is big on surveys. This is the second or third one he has done. Remember also, surveys can be twisted anyway the owner of the survey wants. We did get this one and were not impressed with the person on the phone.

Mark Twain popularized a saying (not sure who said it first):

“There are 3 kinds of lies…Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics”

It’s still true.

Actually mathematics is a science, don’t try to bring us back to the dark ages.

Agreed…math is science. While statistics incorporate math, I think they’re really closer to the dark arts. It’s all in the questions asked and how results are sliced and diced.

No one person has the power to change the future top three priorities revealed in the survey. We need to protest, march, and chant in unison “we will not be the dumping ground for the County”s problems”. Then take action to stop this bottom standard on human existence.
