Antioch, Calif., – Today, the City of Antioch has announced that it will extend its citywide curfew until 5:00 AM on Monday, June 8, 2020.

The curfew will begin each night at 6:00 PM and expire each morning at 5:00 AM. The Order will expire on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 5:00 AM.

Pursuant to this curfew, no persons shall be upon any public street, avenue, alley, park, way, or any other public place or upon unimproved private real property in the City of Antioch.

“The City continues to monitor the situation throughout the Bay Area. Recently, we have received information that we have determined to be a credible threat to the City. However, in the interest of public safety, the City cannot comment further,” said Antioch Police Chief Tammany Brooks.

The announcement came after Contra Costa County announced a Countywide curfew that begins at 8:00 pm and ends at 5:00 am each day.

On Monday, Antioch Police Chief Tammany Brooks issued a statement to the community — it can be read here.

Antioch Mayor Sean Wright urged the community to stay home and be safe.

“The city came together and the leadership decided to implement a curfew. I realize these are trying times and there will be a time for conversation and dialogue, but for tonight, please stay home for the safety of our community,” said Mayor Wright.

Meanwhile, Wright announced Tuesday a Virtual “Outage & Outcomes” Community Forum with African American Faith leaders scheduled for 7:00 pm Wednesday. For more information on the event, click here.

Going a little too far. Our stay in place ended 5/31 and the next day they started this. Rule and control us. We get punished for other people’s terrorism.
