Boat Fire Spreads to Antioch Home

At 3:09 am on Thursday March 7, 2013 crews from The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a structure fire in an single family home at 201 Creed Ave. in Antioch.

Upon arrival the first fire unit reported heavy smoke and fire in the backyard. Upon further investigation it was found that the origin of the fire was a boat on fire that extended into a detached residence on the property. All occupants were out of the home.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters from Antioch and Pittsburg. The full first alarm assignment of 17 firefighters from 3 engines, 2 ladder trucks and 2 Battalion Chiefs brought the fire under control within 17 minutes and contained the fire to the boat and the one structure – no other structures were damaged. The involved structure suffered significant damage and the boat was a total loss. Damage was estimated at $100,000. Their were no injuries and the cause of the fire was accidental.
