AUSD Issues Notice of Vacancy on the Board of Education

The Board of Education of the Antioch Unified School District is seeking applications to fill a vacancy on the Board caused by the resignation of Barbara Cowan on September 23, 2015. Board members will use the following process to appoint an individual to complete Ms. Cowan’s term which expires December 2016.

Remaining Term of Office: December 2015-2016

Requirements of Office:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Resident of Antioch Unified School District
  • Registered Voter
  • United States Citizen
  • Not disqualified by the US Constitution of state law holding a civil office

Application Process

To secure an application, visit the Districts website at www.antioch.k12.ca.us or pick up an application at the School Services Building located at 510 G Street, Antioch by October 30, 2015 by 12:00 pm. The District office is open Monday – Friday, 7:30 am — 4:30 pm.

Timeline

  • Completed applications must be received in the Superintendents Office no later than 12:00 pm October 30, 2015. Neither postmarks nor late delivery will be accepted.
  • Board of Education will interview candidates in a public meeting called by the Board. The following date and times have been set aside for interviews. November 4, 2015 between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
  • The new Board Member will be sworn in at the regular Board of Education meeting on December 16, 2015.

Note: This appoint is provisional and subject to the petition process specified in California Education Code 5092.

Who in their right mind would want on this board. You have the NAACP on their ass, you have Deer Valley issues, you have teachers leaving, you have funding issues, you are being sued by special needs community. I’d rather go to the dentist than serve on this board.
