AUSD Investigating “Inappropriate Touching” Allegations at Fremont Elementary

by ECT

Antioch School Foundation

The Antioch Unified School District is looking into allegations of “inappropriate touching” of three students by a substitute teacher on Thursday at Fremont Elementary School.

According to Keith Rogenski, assistant superintendent of human resources, the three students immediately reported the incident  and the substitute teacher was pulled from the teaching within an hour’s time.

The incident is still open and under investigation so little information can be shared, however, Rogenski did state the incident occurred during a physical education class during a “tag-like-game”.

Since the investigation is still ongoing, no final decision has been made.

Parents of the three students who were reportedly touched were notified, however, parents of children in the same class were not notified along with other parents at the school.

All of the children that the sub had contact with should most definitely had their parents notified!

Notified about what? An alligation? An investigation has to occur first before any findings can be reported. If a child makes a claim, yes their parents need to be notified, but until the inverstigation is complete, there is nothing to tell. AUSD has followed the law thus far/

It appears the district has not learned yet. All families should have been notified. Isn’t that the rule?

Why should they be notified? Especially when it is an allegation? The next thing you know this would be turning into as witch hunt. They handled it appropriately.

Thank you East County Today for writing this article! AUSD likes to “sweep everything under the rug” and parents need to be aware of EVERYTHING going on at ALL schools because they are our kids. AUSD needs to realize the kids NEED to be the number one priority!!

All anyone can ever do is complain. What about the fact that the administration pulled this teacher immediately, rather than allowing him to continue teaching for years to come as so often is the case. Good job, Fremont staff, for listening to your students and taking immediate action!

I am curious… Is there a follow up article that I am missing? I am certain that the staff at Fremont handled the situation in the best way possible. I would, however, like to hear an update even if only to let me know if the allegations are serious and the substitute has been detained OR to help me relax and know that my children were not at risk even for a minute.
