AUSD Alerts Parents to Attempted Abduction of Deer Valley HS Student

by ECT

Antioch Unified School District Superintendent Donald Gill issued an alert to parents this morning regarding an attempted abduction of a Deer Valley High School student. This is the second alert this March.

At around 9:30 am, a female reported that a man in a car had offered her a ride and then gotten out of the car and attempted to grab her at Lone Tree Way and Mokelumne Way.

Here is the alert:

Good Morning,

This is Dr. Donald Gill, Superintendent of the Antioch Unified School District), with an important safety announcement.

This morning at approximately 9:30 am, a Deer Valley student reported that she had been approached on the way to school by a man driving a four door white Mazda with missing plates.

According to the female student, she was approaching the intersection of Mokuleme Drive and Lone Tree Way when the man asked if she wanted a ride. When she declined, the student reported that the man got out of his car and tried to grab her.

The student described the man as African-American, in his 20’s with medium toned skin and light facial hair.

The Antioch Police Department has been notified. Please remind your children to never talk to strangers and to never get in a car or leave with a stranger –even if he or she seems nice or says they are a friend of a family member. We will have additional school security in the area and will alert the police and parents should we observe anything suspicious.

Thank you, as always, for your support in this matter.

No further information was provided.

On March 11, the AUSD issued an alert for an attempted abduction of an Antioch Middle School student at around 7:00 am on the 2200 block of Sycamore Drive. The female described the black male as being in his late 30’s with an unshaven face, driving a white or gold vehicle that had an appearance similar to a PT Cruiser.

2 in 1 month this is not good. At some point, someone will be successful.

Hopefully they’ll catch that lowlife. Both Deer Valley and Antioch High School are awful schools to have your kid go to.

I would rather have my kid commute to school in Concord, Pleasant Hill or Walnut Creek than enrolling at a Antioch high school.

The sad truth is that nowadays in the US (probably over the entire planet Earth) there are those few but cunning pedophiles who will try almost anything to abduct children and teenagers. Our only weapon against their actions is an alert public, alert students, and a fully attentive police presence, both uniformed and undercover. I hope the students can try to travel in groups of two or more if at all possible.
