August 25 Pittsburg Police Responses Net Firearms Off the Streets

The Pittsburg Police Department announced that during two responses for service calls, they were able to get two firearms of the streets. The first incident was a response to a suspicious vehicle while the second call was a response to a fight.

Here is what Pittsburg Police announced:

Aug 25: W. 6th Street

On 8/25/15 Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the area of West 6th Street for a report of a physical fight. Officers were informed that during the fight, one of the subjects had a firearm in his possession.

During the investigation, the suspect was taken into custody and a loaded Tech-9 style firearm was recovered.

Aug 25: Del Tren Avenue & Hermosa Avenue

On August 25, 2015, at 0021 hours, Pittsburg Police Officers were patrolling the residential neighborhood of Del Tren Avenue and Hermosa Avenue when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot.

This vehicle was occupied by three subjects and when officers made their approach, one of the subjects fled from the officers on foot.

Officers pursued the subject over backyard fences and quickly apprehended him without further incident. A discarded firearm with an extended magazine was located as well as methamphetamine. The subject is an ex-felon and currently on probation.

No further details were provided on either event.
