April 30-May 7: Antioch Police Incident Highlights

The following are Antioch Police incidents that occurred between April 30 – May 7 according to information provided in the Antioch City Manager Weekly Report.

  • April 30, 2015
    On 4/30/ 2015, during portions of dayshift, officers were able to concentrate on directed
    Traffic enforcement in the area of Lonetree Way near Walton Ln., Country Hills Dr, and Gentrytown Dr. 18 citations were issued for violations including failing to yield for stops signs and speeding.
  • 5/4/2015 at 3:44 pm
    Officers responded to the Save Mart store at 111 E.18th St. A 66 year old man was sitting in the parking lot when 45 year old William Tweedie and 24 year old Charles Costa approached him and robbed him of property he had in his pockets. In doing so they began assaulting him. Witnesses saw the two kicking and punching the man in the face and head.

    As citizens came to his aid, the two fled on foot towards Woodland Ave. Witnesses and nearby residents gave chase and physically detained the two suspects. The victim sustained injuries to his face and head.  Tweedie and Costa were positively identified as the responsible parties and booked at the county jail on charges of felony assault, robbery, and parole violation.

    Several callers reported a male who appeared unable to stand and was interfering with traffic at 18th and “A” streets. Officers contacted the subject who was having a medical issue. A computer check revealed 54 year old Harold Johnson had a no bail full extraditable warrant out of Louisiana for armed robbery. The warrant was confirmed. Johnson was taken to the hospital and later booked into MDF on the warrant.
  • On 5/4/2015 at 7:35 am
    Officers responded to 30 W. 17th St. regarding subjects living in a shed to the rear of the home. Five subjects were contacted, including 33 year old Thomas Salazar and 40 year old Jenna Gomez. Salazar was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition possessing burglary tools and probation violation. Gomez was arrested for possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. One vehicle was towed and a trailer was tagged for towing.

    Code Enforcement posted the shed as being non-inhabitable. Gomez was booked at the county jail and Gomez was issued a citation and release.

  • On 5/5/2015 at 2:21pm
    officers responded to an alarm inside the unoccupied commercial building at 2950 Delta Fair Blvd. Upon their arrivals, a building search was conducted and 66 year old James Wedding was located inside the building and in possession of bolt cutters. He was arrested for trespassing. A search yielded a bag of methamphetamine. Wedding was determined to be on probation and booked at the county jail.
  • On 5/6/2015 at 10:34 am
    officers responded to the Antioch Marina parking lot for the report of subjects possibly using drugs in a vehicle. Upon their arrivals, officers contacted three subjects, which included two 17 year old males and a 15 year old female. One of the 17 year old males was known to officers to be associated with gang members, narcotics, and weapons.

    This male was found to have a concealed loaded .357 magnum revolver concealed in his sock under his pant leg. He had additional ammunition in his pockets. The male was taken into custody without incident and booked into juvenile hall.

  • On 5/6/15 at 11:38 am
    21 year old Esteban Flores was stopped for vehicle code violations on W.11th St near Klengal St. During a search of his vehicle, Flores was found to be in possession of suspected heroin for sales. In addition to the heroin, he had packaging, “cutting” agents, and other related sales paraphernalia.

    A follow-up search was done of his residence and additional items related to narcotic sales were located. Flores was booked into MDF.

  • May 7, 2015 at 12:24 am:
    An officer stopped a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed leaving the Executive Inn at 515 W.18th St. The passengers in the car were John Oliphant and Vanessa Harper, both 35 years old. Harper had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance.Oliphant, who was determined to be on felony probation for sales of a controlled substance and had a search clause, was found to be in possession of heroin. Harper and Oliphant were booked at the county jail.
