A vehicle struck a pump at the Shell Gas Station in on Hillcrest Ave in Antioch Thursday evening at roughly 7:33 pm which sent one man to the hospital.

According to personnel on scene, the man in the vehicle suffered a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital by American Medial Response (AMR)  following the incident. Authorities said that although the pump was struck, it did not cause a leak or major damage. Had their been a leak, “blue foam” would have been seen. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was on scene as a precaution.

During the incident, besides the pump involved in the accident and AMR rig in the pump area, customers were still able to get gas.

The only thing that happens in Antioch are murders, shootings, burglaries, auto accidents and the like.

Nevertheless, I hope the driver recovers soon and thankfully no one else was hurt. Hitting a gas station could have been much more dangerous.
