Antioch: Upcoming Mayoral and Council Candidate Forums

Voters interested in hearing what the City of Antioch Mayoral and City Council races have to say will have three upcoming candidates forums to listen to ideas and solutions.

Candidates include:

Antioch Herald to host forums for mayor, council candidates, Tuesday, Sept. 20
The candidates for Antioch Mayor and City Council will square off on Tuesday night, September 20th and answer questions from the panelist, audience and each other during two forums, hosted by the Antioch Herald.

The forum for city council candidates will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 8:00 p.m. The forum for candidates for mayor will begin at 8:15 p.m. and last one hour.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to ask two questions of fellow candidates and offer two rebuttals. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates, as well.

Paul Burgarino, the Voter Education & Engagement Specialist with the Contra Costa County Clerk/Recorder-Registrar – Election Division will be the panelist asking the questions of the candidates, Antioch City Clerk Arne Simonsen will serve as time keeper and Herald Publisher Allen Payton will moderate the forums.

The forums will be held in the Antioch City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 200 H Street, between West 2nd and West 3rd Streets in downtown and will be recorded for later viewing on local cable access TV channels.


Forum for Antioch Mayoral Candidates set for September 26th At St. Ignatius Catholic Church

Candidates for Mayor of Antioch have been invited to participate in a forum at St. Ignatius Church, 3551 Contra Loma Blvd in Antioch from 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Monday, September 26th.  The League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley president, Ann Flynn, will be moderating the forum using standard League forum format and rules.

The forum is open to the public and voters are encouraged to attend.  Parishioners will submit questions in advance and question cards will be handed out that evening for additional questions from the audience.


Antioch Conservation and Community Forum Set for Sept. 28 at 7:00 pm
An Antioch Conservation and Community Forum will take place at the Prewett Community Center later this month.

At this forum residents can hear from the candidates from both the Antioch City Council and Mayoral race on important topics such as the upcoming eBart Station, the new housing developments proposed in southern Antioch, improving quality of life and access to parks, and the candidates’ vision for Downtown.

The event is sponsored by Save Mount Diablo, Greenbelt Alliance, the League of Conservation voters of the East Bay, and the Sierra Club. The moderator will be a member of the League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley.
