Antioch Set to Discuss City Manager Appointment in Closed Session

The Antioch City Council has called for a special meeting on Monday November 4 where they will hold a special closed session meeting to discuss the Public Employee Appointment of a new city manager.

According to the agenda, the meeting will be all day with an end time “unknown” which will be held in the Antioch Police Department Community room and a closed session in the conference room 300 L Street Antioch.

City Manager Jim Jakel is retiring at the end of the year and Antioch has retained Peckham & McKenney to conduct a search for his replacement. The position’s salary was being advertised with a range of $190,000 to $240,000

The first question and requirement is the City Manager should come from Antioch. Either they live here now or are they willing to relocate.

I agree while on the job they should reside in Antioch. However it is against the law to require them to do so.

one can’t make them move, but it could be a job application requirement.?

there was by the way ample time to give input about that position, it was even twice on the agenda for public input.
