Antioch School Board to Discuss Protocols to Prevent Public From “Disrespecting” School Board

by ECT
Antioch Unified School District

On Wednesday, the Antioch Unified School District will have a series of discussion items that may or may not result in future actions by the board.

According to the Agenda, listed under Information/Discussion/Actions by Board:

  1. Protocols to prevent staff and the public from disrespecting Board members (C. Sawyer-White);
  2. Written protocols to prevent censorship and investigating Board members (C. Sawyer-White);
  3. Timing of Board meetings. (C. Sawyer-White);
  4. AUSD/City of Antioch Ad Hoc Committee (S. Anello).
When asked for information or documentation on this agenda item, Superintendent Stephanie Anello stated there were none as the requests were made by Trustee Sawyer-White and placed on the agenda at her request.
It is unclear why the agenda items are being brought forward without documentation, however, for Item 3, it was during the Dec. 13 School Board Meeting (33:38 minute mark), Amy Bettencourt, a coordinator in the Educational Services Department, shared how Sawyer-White had arrived late to 68% of the meetings since being seated–the rest of the board combined had only been tardy 13%.

Can this school district just focus on real issues for once instead of stupid things that are a waste of time. I would advise Ms. Sawyer-White invest in an alarm clock or scheduler because the only thing she should be focused on right now is being on time. How does one be late 68% of the time? That cannot be everyone else fault.

If I am late more than 3x in a certain time period I lose my job.

Sounds like some misguided attempt at a power trip. I’m assuming the item was put on the satiate her at the moment, with the intent of shooting it down at the actual meeting.

Give me a break! Take responsibility for your actions Ms -White.

The investigation of board members should be allowed. If a person showed up at every board meeting they would be able to calculate how much she is late. Get a clue Ms. Sawyer-White. The board doesn’t have to investigate you, WE CAN. These are only being brought up because it has been proven that she is not a healthy board member. She wants expense accounts, try learning about your own school district and properly educate yourself on the standard protocol and rules and regs of this district. Just because you put your ass in your face and it didn’t go your way, get over yourself. Maybe it is time to leave the board.
