Antioch Resident Arrested by CHP After Fatal Crash on SR-12

by ECT

The California Highway Patrol reports that on May 26, at around 4:00 pm, Stockton CHP responded to a fatal traffic collision on SR-12 east of the Mokelumne River Bridge.

In the initial investigation, it was determined, a 2012 Chevrolet, driven by a Ainise Taimani, 19, from Antioch, was traveling westbound on SR-12 at an undetermined speed. As the Chevrolet approached the bridge, the driver allowed the vehicle to leave the roadway and travel along the north shoulder, where it eventually struck a lamp post.

The force of the collision ejected both unrestrained passengers who were seated in the rear of the Chevrolet. One passenger suffered fatal injuries and the other passenger was transported to a local area hospital for major injuries.

The driver, Taimani, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. Taimani was treated for minor injuries and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Why is it that the drunk driver ends up with the least number of injuries (or none at all) while his or her passengers either die or wind up with severe injuries?

It is because the alcohol makes them limber and when impact occurs they loosen up and sober people stiffen up and hence end up with most injuries and death. So sad ?

As Ev said! However if these 2 had their seatbelts on this could be a totally different scenario. She should have never moved her vehicle until seatbelts are on. These car manufacturers should with all this junk they put in the new cars should make them disabled until all seatbelts are fastened. Instead they are making cars drive by themselves, external and internal camera,
the stereo pretty much does everything for you except make coffee. But they can’t get the 2 most important things right seatbelts and baby alert system. These 2 things could/would save lives. I have to tell you though as I drive/ride around town and even freeways more and more people are not wearing seatbelts nor are the kids, including babies. I just seen a woman put her 1or2 yr old daughter in her seat it was one of the infant seat car seats. That baby was front facing, I didn’t notice she was front facing til the woman pulled out of her parking spot and drove away.
