Either ECT is actually reporting news that others do not or the stats are skewed. I am a bit dumbfounded how with all the violence lately crime is not up. I think its sad we have more shootings than Richmond.

These stats are skewed and if rape is up 400% then we have some serious issues. Why I believe the numbers are being played with is because you have stats from Jan-June, but you have shootings through July 7? Why are they different date ranges? Hmmm maybe the Mayor can explain that.

Interesting, why did Chief do that?

Remember filled positions include those officers on disability etc so there are really only 69. And it includes the chief and a couple of officer positions that may not be on the street

He probably did it because his “boss” Harper demanded it. Politics man… they needed something to get the public to calm down.

Mayor Harper must be doing the calculations here because I can tell you from experience its not getting better and its probably worse than the stats are showing. I think an audit is needed to show the public just how skewed these figures are and were probably fixed.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Jul 18, 2014 - 4:33 pm

Don’t know if you remember but we had a crap load of shooting and violent crime last year, the year before , and the year before that, ect….. It has just been so hyped up recently due to the amount in such a short time. Do you have any insight on stats Eric C???? The numbers for rape are a combined forced rape and statutory rape. Antioch gets a lot of statutory rape stats like parents catching 16 year old daughter having sex with 16 year old boyfriend. It is stated as a rape. Not saying there is still not a problem but just not what it appears.

Only an idiot would truly believe these stats are accurate. Only crime supports would parade around showing off these stats.

Which categor do you think the Mayor and City Council fall in?

Chuck Jul 19, 2014 - 10:18 am

The numbers are deceiving because a crime of 2 in a year changing to a crime of 10 brings stats up by 500 percent yet only 8 more incidents took place. I see they missed stats on those high priority far east calls such as restraining orders, harassment, and terrorist threats.
