Antioch Police Surprise Family by Replacing Stolen Bicycle, Provide Other Goodies

by ECT

On Thursday, the Antioch Police Department surprised a family by replacing a stolen bicycle and providing other goodies to a family on Bryan Avenue.

On May 26, a subject came into the yard of a family and stole a green bicycle of a 12-year-old boy that had previously been given to him by the Antioch Police Department last Christmas at their giveaway.

“He adored his bike. All day I had to console my baby while he cried in my arms. And he asked me why it had to be his bike? It just tore my heart out,” said Deserae Escobar, the boys mother.

Escobar filed a police report and asked the community to keep an eye out.

On Thursday, Police showed up with two bicycles, a new slip-in-slide and three new board games for the family.

“This touched my heart, we are so very grateful and just to see the look on the kids’ faces was just so great. To make it even more awesome the came driving up with the sirens wailing and the lights flashing,” said Escobar. “It was just a dream come true. It taught our kids that yes there is evil in this world and bad things are going to happen but never lose faith because there is more good than bad. I am so very grateful.”
