Antioch Police Say “Speed” a Factor in Crash, Two Critically Injured

by ECT

At 1:39 pm Wednesday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of an overturned vehicle that injured two people at the 7-Eleven parking lot at Hillcrest Avenue and Lone Tree Way.

According to Antioch Police, the vehicle struck a hydrant and two victims, an 18-year-old male and 19-year-old female, were in a rollover crash that took out a fire hydrant while driving southbound on Hillcrest Avenue.

Sergeant James Stenger stated that the male left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the fire hydrant causing the rollover and ejecting the female passenger.

Both the male and female were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance and were listed in critical, but stable condition.

Contra Costa County fire originally requested a medical helicopter, however, it was cancelled after further patient care was provided on scene.

Sgt. Stenger said that speed was a contributing factor to this collision.
