When officers arrived, they arrived to a physical fight and when they entered the home, they founded a deceased male who was shot by multiple subjects.

According to Lt. Donleavy, he stated the subjects were in the home at the time of the shooting. The suspects fled the scene and likely got into a car and drove away.

Due to crowd control issues, assistance was request by Brentwood Police, Oakley Police and Pittsburg Police who helped set up a perimeter and provided crowd control.

SUNDAY UPDATE VIA ANTIOCH POLICE

On April 17, at approximately 6:03PM, Antioch police officers were called a residence in the 4500block of Shannondale Drive on the report of someone who had been shot.

Numerous officers responded to the scene. There was a large gathering, of mostly young adults and juveniles, at the residence. When officers arrived, they had to contend with an uncooperative and growing crowd of over twenty people.

As the officers tried to make their way to an open garage where the victim was located, several subjects in the crowd started to assault the officers.

Antioch officers called for emergency mutual aid from the surrounding jurisdictions to get the crowd under control. At least two people were arrested for resisting, delaying, obstructing, or assaulting public safety officers.

Once officers entered the garage, they located a 16-year-old victim, down on the floor, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers learned that two suspects entered the garage, and at least one of them began shooting at the victim. Afterwards, both suspects fled on-foot in an unknown direction.

The identities of both suspects are unknown.

Currently, detectives are working to identify any suspects or persons-of-interest. The investigation is still active, and evidence is being collected and evaluated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Antioch Police Department non-emergency line at (925)778-2441, or Detective Bledsoe at 925-779-6884. You may also text-a-tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word ANTIOCH

Thorps worried about creating a Chinatown, in a city where people are being shot weekly. Hey mayor Asian people don’t want anything to do Antioch. Your stupid sense of what you think is important is getting people shot. Back the police and remove Toemisha.

A bunch of knuckleheads standing around while someone has been shot, Then assaulting the officers responding to the scene. What? It’s a neighborhood thing? Killing is acceptable? Part of handling your business? If APD had actually chosen to ignore the situation how long before the tearful mama gets in front of the cameras and wails about no one caring enough to protect their babies? I just do not understand the culture of non cooperation

The culture if non cooperation is rooted in a culture of non participation, non representation, non adjudication and non affiliation…hope that helps.

So sad that the immediate community members would attempt to assault the police. It does not make sense. What if they never arrived at all? What if they just do nothing, no investigation, no accountability for the perpetrator? Next the locals will trash their own city. For what? None of this makes any sense. I really feel for the police. They have to take this kinda crap home in their minds every day with no hope it will change. Antioch needs to come together and help itself to change for the better. It all needs to begin with parenting and respect for human life.

Well said..and I agree with your statement. However…what’s the reason this community does not like the cops? Could it be the parenting of the police, not all mind you but enough parenting to raise sons and daughters to not value black lives? What kind of parenting is that? Then you talk about respecting human life..bit do all police resect human life? Botham Jean, Sandra Bkand, George Floyd, Tamir Rice, Daunte Wright, Michael Brown, Kurt Reinhold, Casey Goodson, Sean Reed, and Anthony Hill, and Elijah McLain. I go on cuz there are literally hundreds of names I could list. But I hope you get the point. Not all cops are bad, but when you’re viewed as an occupying force as opposed to a protect and serve entity…then you get this type of pushback.

I do understand what you are saying. The time has come to bring bad law enforcement to accountability. However, teaching all police are bad just exaggerates perceptions negatively. I was in law enforcement and I did see bad cops. I also experience a lot more sincere and dedicated to society cops. Not all the names you mentioned are the fault of police as if no criminal activity had taken place prior to the incidents. Many of those people would still be living. That’s not an excuse for bad cops , it is merely a fact that many people oversee. The killing of anyone should be taken more seriously than what is has recently. We are getting nowhere at this point, only taking steps backward.
