Identity theft penalty should be decided by the person that was most harmed by the theft. No limits on length of jail time or even death.

If neighborhoods are experiencing mail theft from individual mailboxes, there’s a device that could help monitor activity. It’s called Mail Chime, and it’s available from many places online. When the volume is left turned up loud, people can definitely tell when someone has opened the mailbox. At night, or after the mail has already been delivered and collected, that can be a good alert to go and check the cameras for activity, and possibly contact police. Just a few of these strategically scattered out through the neighborhood could really make a difference in tracking suspects.
