Antioch Police Investigating Video Allegedly Taken from Tobinworld Showcasing Physical Altercations

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department is currently in the middle of an investigation of a video that surfaced that was allegedly taken at Tobinworld in Antioch.

The video shows youths “out of control” and physical altercations on school grounds which is making its rounds on social media.

In a statement by interim Antioch Unified School District Superintendent Stephanie Anello, she stated the video had been posted on social media which showed two Tobinworld 2 staff and students–Tobinworld is a non-public school that contracts with school districts throughout the East Bay to serve students with Special Needs.

The School District has confirmed that Tobinworld 2 notified Law Enforcement and an investigation is currently under way.

“At this point we have determined that the student at the center of the video is not an AUSD student,” said Anello.  “Upon learning of this incident, Antioch Unified School District sent our staff members to Tobinworld 2 to provide support to our students and parents.  We have also contacted the Contra Costa County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) and asked that they look into the matter. We take all instances of student safety seriously and will ensure that appropriate and decisive steps are taken as determined by the outcome of the investigation.”

Police Chief Allan Cantando stated he was aware of the video and they hope to have information available to the public at some point Wednesday afternoon. He provided no further details as police officers are currently investigating the incident.

Tobinworld is located at 2330 Country Hills Dr # 102, Antioch, CA.

Saddens me to see this video. This is truly unacceptable behavior by the staff of Tobinworld. This is not the first incident nor will it be the last. The two Tobinworld locations in Antioch need to be shut down. What an embarrassment to have this establishment in Antioch. Shame, regardless if these students have disabilities or behavioral obstacles, you don’t degrade and dismiss them. They’re human beings. Let’s not forget they’re the youth of America.

I totally agree ^. There are a total of 5 TobinWorld schools in Antioch and the staff are either not trained or use a “you need to be scared of me” approach. The students attending this organization are not benefiting nor havimg their needs met in any way and are just looked at as a profit. Most class rooms do not even have credentialed teachers (If the class even has a teacher). I would know first hand, being a former employee who is appauled and disgusted by the actions in this video. Something needs to be done!!!

I agree 100 % that this is wrong in so many ways but I believe the establishment needs to be revamped, new mgmt overseen. I say that because they’re not many options for children who need these types of schools and the obvious is they are not able to be at public school and need the structure of a school that provides the structure their conditions need. Obviously at the same time they need to be safe free from harm and not subjected to an environment such as what is in this video. I just hate to see the entire organization be shut down when it needs to be fixed instead.

T, I respect your opinion but what kind of establishment pays certain students to attend their school? It’s alarming to hear students rant about the motivation of money being the only reason of their attendance?

This establishment’s corruption goes back to Matthew Isarel, the husband of Judy Weber. She’s the executive director of Tobinworld.

So sad….

Because these children bring special issues they often aren’t able to report back to their parents when things go wrong, as they did here. We need cameras in all special needs classrooms, and probably a secure web app that allows parents to check in on their children throughout the day.

My heart goes out to everyone here, the child, parents, family, aides (who are clearly not properly trained and supervised).
