Antioch Police Investigating Trio of Late Night Robberies in Local Parks

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department is reporting that between March 23-24, there were three incidents in which two males brandished a firearm and robbed their victims in local parks.

All three incidents occurred in Antioch Parks between 10:35 pm to 12:16 am where two males approached vehicles armed with a weapon.

Here is a recap of the three incidents:

  • On 3/24/16 at 12:16 am, a couple was sitting in their car at Dallas Ranch Park located at 1137 Prewett Ranch Dr when a white vehicle pulled behind them and two males approached either side of the car. Both males were armed and demanded their property. The take was a purse and cell phone. There were no injuries reported.
  • On 3/23/16 at 11:49 pm, a couple was sitting in their car at Country Manor Park located at 2800 Asilomar Dr. and starting to back out of the stall. A vehicle described as a white Monte Carlo blocked their path. Two males got out and approached either side of the car. The male on the driver’s side tapped on the window with a gun and demanded their property. The take was two cell phones, a purse and cash. The male on the driver’s side took the car keys and threw them into a nearby field. There were no injuries.
  • On 3/23/16 at 10:35 pm, a couple was at Williamson Ranch Park in their vehicle when they were approached by two males. Both of the males brandished handguns and demanded their money and phones. The suspects threw the victim’s car keys somewhere in the park. The keys were never located and the phone was turned off and could not be pinged. No injuries were reported.

Tom Fuhrmann of the Antioch Police Department said they were looking into some leads and the three incidents may be related, however, he could not comment any further as the incidents are still under investigation.

No further information was provided.

Okay (closing my eyes and saying to myself) Crime is Down.

I agree with RichieB. The police can paint it anyway they want, but crime is up based on what I read in the news.

Why are we finding out about these robberies 5-days later? The community needs to be alerted faster by police. I want to support our police department, but there has to be a better way to provide transparency than a weekly report that is a week old news

If we still had our scanners we would know about it.

Why is there no description of the 2 males? Already calling the APD with the info on a white Monte Carlo that lives in my neighborhood, that also visits near by houses ;( lovely people… NOT!

Crime in Antioch again? I’m so sorry for the good citizens of Antioch. Time to replace your city council with more effective leadership. What you have now is a crime.

Love the description of the two men, black, white or green? Short, tall, fat or skinny? More PC?

Modern society is too large and too crowded to wait around for police to save the day. Still against concealed carry licenses for law abiding citizens?

Do not leave your valuables in your car or sit in your car in any parking lot. You are the victims not them. Not them, not them!

Why would anyone want to be at a park at midnight? That itself suggests you are there for the wrong reasons. Besides, isn’t there a code to prevent parks open after dark? If you are hanging out in a park at midnight in gangster Antioch you have set yourself up for a problem like this.

Perhaps crimes like these could calm down if the “law abiding” citizen(s) would be able to obtain a CCW. That is one way that the “bad guy” would be taking a chance of being put down by legal CCW holders. Contra Costa County Sheriff is a stick in the mud when it comes to the CCW issue. I hope that I don’t have to take someone down by squeezing the trigger but, I will do what I have to to protect my life, my families life and the life of others. Need to vote for those that highly believe in our 2nd amendment. Those that are against guns have that right don’t worry, you are really save in your home….ya right!
