On Monday, the Antioch Police Department welcomed Officer Steven Millan as he was sworn in during a brief ceremony.

With the addition of Millan, the police department now stands at 96-officers after they welcomed two officers on November 1.

Millan was born and raised in San Francisco and graduated from the Voice of Pentecost Academy in 2004. After graduating high school, Steven attended the World Evangelism Bible College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

According to Chief Allan Cantando, Millan served as a youth pastor for 5 years at a church in San Jose, California where he worked with inner-city youth. He says Steven’s passion to serve others led him to become a police officer.

Millan graduated from the 170th Oakland Police Academy in 2014. During his time with the Oakland Police Department, Steven worked as a Patrol Officer, a Community Resource/Outreach Officer, and later transferred to the Crime Reduction Team.

On November 1, the police department welcomed Jason Cach and Garrett McKenzie. The police department is authorized to hire 102-officers.
