Antioch Police Department Discuss Crime with Latino Community

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department continues to go that extra mile to help educate the community on police activity and resources available. On April 20, 2013, the Police Department held its latest event with a Spanish-language version of coffee with the cops at Holy Rosary Church. Police reporting was a topic of discussion as many are not strong English speakers and reporting a crime is difficult for them. They also brought up guns and gangs.

The bottom line is regardless of language, the Latino community has very similar issues with crime as a crime knows no language, instead, it only knows action. What effects one group of folks effects another. English speaking or not, crime is a major concern of mos residents.

On a side note, the attendees provided Councilwoman Mary Rocha with a couple birthday songs as it was her birthday.

Meanwhile, Chief Allan Cantando was presented a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Loretta Sanchez (46th Congressional District) for his outstanding partnership, community service, and participation in the 2012 Latino Leaders Conference.  The award was actually dated from Sept. 14, 2012.
