Antioch Police Arrest DUI Suspect After Fleeing Crash Scene

At roughly 7:17 pm, the Antioch Police Department responded to a collision that occurred between two vehicles on A Street and W 3rd Street.

Upon officers arrival they found that the 48 year old male was driving a vehicle, crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another vehicle. The 48 year old male continued driving and struck a city light pole and his car became disabled.

He then fled the scene on foot. Medical personnel arrived as well and medical attention was provided for a complaint of pain to subjects in the other vehicle. No one was transported to the hospital.

Officers located the 48 year old male at his residence where he was arrested for driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident. The 48 year old male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

The names of the involved subjects are not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Great job APD, however, I really want to start hearing about PRO-ACTIVE types of police work that resulted in arrests.

These REACTIVE types of reports are an everyday thing in every city.

They don’t have too much time for pro-active types of police work right now. If we had it we would have traffic officers which we badly need.
