Antioch Police Arrest 11 During Monday’s Proactive Enforcement

by ECT

A proactive enforcement detail by the Antioch Police Department netted 11 arrests Monday which targeted Antioch’s high crimes areas in an effort to impact violent crime.

The effort was in conjunction with the Contra Costa County Destrict Attorney Investigators where charges Monday ranged from felony warrants, drugs, to weapons charges—two loaded guns were found on subjects.

One incident resulted in a short pursuit to the Ramada Inn which ended in a dog bite. Police attempted to pull the subject over on Mahogany Way. Once the vehicle stopped the subject took off on foot through the Ramada Inn carrying a loaded gun and ultimately the dog caught the subject.

The subject had a felony warrant and was treated and released on scene and ultimately taken to Martinez.

Here are photographs from Mondays activity:

I thought there was a law against felons owning guns… That stopped him eh?

There are stipulations in every law. They have to have a previous gun charge. But that still won’t stop them

11 people arrested on a Monday? It’s the start of the week. If these 11 people had jobs, they would not be on the street getting arrested. These people need to go apply at McDonalds or Taco Bell or something. Staying busy is the key to staying out of trouble.

Continued police presence in the Sycamore area certainly seems to be helping keep the area quiet. Thank you APD and all who participated.

Way to go….let’s take Antioch back. So tired of the riff raff. Can’t even let or kids out any more without worrying if they might get shot.

That’s a real professional look there APD….the guy with the oversized flat bill cap, ears tucked in, huge diamond earring…way to go…he looks just like all the thugs their arresting. Very unprofessional look. Good job on all the arrests out there. I wonder which K9 got the bite on the bad guy.

JSmith: I don’t think that is an Antioch officer. He could be one of the DA’s crew that was also involved. Our officers are always dressed professional and I will ask Chief Cantando who that is.

JSmith,

It’s just a guess, but very possibly he is usually undercover. It is important at times that not all cops, look like “Uniformed Cops”.

However I get your point.

Did you stop and think. Maybe the officer with the “outfit” you so disliked could be undercover or on a task force? Nah, you didn’t think! Good job APD. Helping keep the streets clean!

JSmith Jun 25, 2014 - 8:51 pm

Call it what you want, undercover or not He.s clearly an APD cop based on the badge he’s wearing. Undercover is great but he’s clearly not undercover at that moment if he’s out in public wearing a raid vest with “police” on it and a badge. If he’s an uncover cop then stay undercover and play the role and hide yourself. If your dressing out in police gear and representing the department and identifying yourself as an APD officer you should not be dressing out like a common thug. Just my thoughts of course. I like the professional appearance of APD officers and this officer just stood out in these pictures because he does not look professional. .

Does it really matter what he looks like if they are arresting people who quite frankly have their pants hanging below their butts and sometimes armed with a weapon or on drugs? Last thing you want when approaching these guys in a proactive detail is a uniform cop so they can go run away.

If they are driving around in an unmarked vehicle, and people only see hit hat… they will think nothing of it and continue doing bad things… but hey, if you want him to change when he steps out of his vehicle during an arrest, that is a lot of bad guys who are going to get away.

EastCountyToday Jun 27, 2014 - 6:50 am

Per my previous comment: driving in an unmarked vehicle down sycamore, all the “bad guys” will see is his bill cap, ears, and diamond…. if he was in uniform and in blues, the bad guys would go the other way.

Quite frankly, during these enforcements, I wish they all took the “thug” look.

JSmith….you look at other officers? Some had jeans on, jordans,…oh yeah its part of there job! Quit profiling and be thankful, if he doesnt look loke a cop then hes doing exactly what he is asked to do and get paid for…cry me a river with all that build a bridge and get over it!
