Antioch PD Tracks Down Car Theft Suspect After Search

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department did a fantastic job last night in chasing down a car thief and recovering the stolen car off G. Street Saturday evening.

The incident began after police stopped the driver in a stolen vehicle and began following him. The suspect apparently jumped out of the car on G Street leaving the car on a curb into some trees next to Chichibu Park.

The suspect then fled on foot towards Fraser Rd. before jumping in the back of a pickup and telling the driver to drive. The driver then made a swerving motion to get the suspect out of his car—the suspect apparently tapped the truck window with a gun.  The suspect fled again this time into yards in the Frazer/Meadowbrooks neighborhood.

Due to quick action of the police getting in place, a perimeter was established and they began doing a yard-to-yard search. The suspect was eventually found and taken into custody on Heather Street.

As you can see in one of the photographs, the car was hijacked using a screwdriver being jammed into the ignition.

There is nothing better than reading about the success of Antioch PD while other media focus on the negatives. Great photos and overview. Hopefully this will detour others from trying to steal cars but I doubt it
