Antioch: Off Duty Officers Detain Starbucks Grab and Dash Suspect at Gunpoint

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department announced the arrest of Ryan Arnold, 18, who they say ran into Starbucks on Blue Rock Drive and Lone Tree Way and attempted to steal a laptop.

The incident occurred on February 25 at 5:13 pm where Arnold and another unidentified male entered Starbucks and stole a MacBook Pro from a table and ran outside.

Two off-duty officers were in the area and detained Arnold at gunpoint until Antioch Police officers arrived on scene.

The second suspect was able to escape in an awaiting vehicle. Arnold was arrested for burglary and grand theft and sent to County Jail.

On February 7, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando observed four suspects run out of Macy’s and flee the scene.

The incident occurred at 10:37 am off Delta Fair Blvd where he saw several suspects flee the scene in a Nissan Altima with what appeared to be fragrances.

For Arnold, this is the second time in a month he had been arrested for theft. Back on February 7, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando helped arrest Arnold and 4 other suspects after a $3,800 theft of fragrances from Macy’s at the Somersville Towne Center Mall.
