The Antioch Police Departments Neighborhood Cleanup event turned 50 Saturday with volunteers fighting rain and wind to ensure the cleanup went on to help the downtown area.

Saturday marked the 50th installment of the cleanup efforts which occurred in the downtown area by City Hall. The event came close to being cancelled shortly before 9:00 am due to heavy rain, but it let up by 8:45 and volunteers were showing up ready to participate.

Police Chief Allan Cantando thanked everyone for their participation and continued support of the program.

Assemblyman Jim Frazier, who provided donuts to volunteers, presented the Chief with a certificate thanking the police department and volunteers for all of their dedication to making Antioch better with its cleanups and taking pride for ones city.

The Neighborhood Cleanup program is a collaborative community effort which involves active participation from The Antioch Police Department Crime Prevention Commission; Neighborhood Watch Program; Volunteers in Police Service; community volunteers and the Public Works Department.

There is a very ugly implIcation in your comment. If you think you’re amusing you’re not, you’re disturbing. There is no place for comments like yours in this community nor in any community across this nation.
