Antioch: Nearly 50 Church Windows Broken After Man Throws River Rocks

by ECT

On Monday, it was reported that 40-50 windows were broken at Cornerstone Christian Center in Antioch after a subject threw multiple river rocks through windows at the gym and portables.

The church is located on 1714 E 18th Street in the City of Antioch which had just redone their landscaping when a man took the rocks and threw them through the windows.

Antioch Police were on scene and were reviewing video but did confirm at least 50 windows were broken, including doors, as well as other damages.

No other information was released.

This is exactly why I’ve argued that we can’t redo our landscaping with rock. One house in the neighborhood which has rock very often has people (often kids) stepping right up onto the yard and filling their pockets before continuing on their way. They don’t particularly care that they are under a very visible camera on the side of that house. We don’t know, but think it’s probably car windows they are using the rock on as they travel through. Bark would be blown away and need replacing frequently, but it might be a better idea than rock.

I can see using HUGE boulders as part of the landscaping .. . with some native vegetation between them, but small rocks? NO WAY! That’s asking for trouble! What are people thinking?

How about work tools. Fill your areas to be landscaped with work tools and morals . Maybe throw in some kindness. Kids won’t come close to it. Hell, most of the county wouldn’t touch it.
Bahahahaha ✌?

Thank you. Going to rethink my design after reading the above. Who wants to contribute to this problem further by providing more rocks.

Today, with so many criminals around, windows in certain facilities should be redesigned and use thick PLEXIGLASS in them like banks do.

Thats just sad and heartbreaking that someone would do such a cold and heartless act on a church. Im not a member but i completely sympathize with you. So sorry and sad to hear this

Claire, get off your high horse. Many people and businesses have rocks in their landscaping, you sound ridiculous. I don’t think most people design a space with morons like that in mind.
Stop blaming the victim and get upset with the criminal

STEPH, KNOCK IT OFF! Use your brain! If people choose rocks to include in their landscaping, then they open themselves up to have a few windows broken! Today people SHOULD look at how they design certain areas as well as everything else. NEVER include river rocks in ANY landscaping. They should keep track of what’s going on and with so many idiots in this city moving in, you KNOW some jerk will be tempted to do something destructive. These people set fires and destroy things and don’t care if it’s a church or someone’s small business. Time to wake up, Steph!

People like STEPH think these are the early 1970’s and Antioch’s population consisted mainly of those who are responsibly acting “adults.” Well, those days are gone and now the-worst-of-the-worse have found their way here. What was so attractive for them here? More and more the DREGS of society have now wandered into this city. You wind up with a POS like that one who was breaking the church’s windows. Be proud of what you’ve attracted and it will get worse. You should have stopped this from happening, but with the new “mayor” and the felon besides him, you’re suffering the consequences already!

Today, with property crimes way up, maybe people should stop, think and design their landscaping with “such morons in mind.” Eh Stephy? Besides, those rocks are ugly! That’s why they are found mostly at the bottom of a river and away from sight.

You want your windows broken? Then landscape with river rocks! See how quickly they attract our undisciplined youth! Parents don’t raise kids anymore and we can see what the results are.

I think these days one should think carefully about what they want to use in their landscaping. If you choose something like small rocks, you’re handing scumbags a weapon. I’ve seen them pick those up and even throw it on people biking, let alone bust windows. With kids of all ages out of school all these months, how can they resist.

BY the same logic all you all apply we should cancel the 2nd amendment simply because some people use firearms for illegal purposes. Some people hurt children so lets stop having children. Some people abuse alcohol lets bring back prohibition. No we wont stop those things simply because some people cannot control themselves so why should we cancel anything because some people cant control themselves Typical victim blaming bullshit thats always present in these comments. Do some reading on personal responsibility or the fundamental attribution errors all your cognitions are biased towards.

Here’s a thought ☝️
The replacement of huge windows is costly. Take that money, along with Tithers throughing in a few extra bucks on offering each month and Hire a Security Guard for night shift only. The Community peeps need to work and the church doesn’t have too cater to the criminals nor change their beautiful windows to ugly cheap plexiglass that clouds up after a few years of elements and is breakable as well. ( hence : Plexi- GLASS).
Here’s another Idea☝️ put up a Cyclone Fence around the property w/ locking gates. These ideas are way cheaper than replacing huge glass windows !
And I pray this criminal gets the help he needs!! Smh

I’m all for PLEXIGLASS! Or no windows at all. Also, get rid of those river rocks in the “landscaping.” Those are ugly! Have the parishioners take turns staying at the facility overnight.
