Antioch: Man Robbed of $3k After Being Struck in the Head Near AMTRAK

by ECT

On 4/2/16 at 11:59 pm, a citizen called 911 reporting a male was lying on the ground near the AMTRAK train station bleeding from the head.

When officers arrived, they contacted an adult male victim lying on the sidewalk with a significant head injury. The victim told officers he was walking near the train station on W 1st St when he was approached by two unknown males in a white Mercedes sedan.

One of the suspect males was armed with a handgun and the other possibly with a metal chain. The victim was struck in the head with the metal chain and robbed of his cash which he stated at first was approximately $20 but later increased to $3000 which he kept in his shoe.

The victim named someone who they claimed had something to do with the robbery. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and was in stable condition.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Would have been walking with a limp or something… with that kind of money in his shoe.
