by ECT

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has identified an Antioch man who was shot and killed in Daly City Sunday after a carjack attempt of two vehicles, a fight, stabbing two people and pursuit.

Justin Silvernale, 35, of Antioch died after South San Francisco Police officers responded to a fight after a carjacking attempt which left one man stabbed. An off-duty officer who attempted to intervene was also stabbed—the off-duty officer then shot Silevrnale in self-defense.

After being shot and tased, Silvernale then gained access to a responding officers patrol car and then fled the scene which led to a pursuit where he rammed a gate and a pursuing police vehicle before exiting the vehicle and challenging police with a knife. Officers then opened fire after not complying with orders. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

The case is under investigation by the Daly City Police Department and San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Attempted Murder / Officer Involved Shooting

On April 12, 2020 at approximately 5:35 AM, the South San Francisco Police Department received a call of two men fighting at the Chevron gas station located on 110 Hickey Boulevard. Subsequent investigation determined that one of the subjects involved in the fight had attempted to carjack vehicles from two different victims, attacking one of his victims in the gas station with a knife and stabbing him.

An off-duty police officer from the San Francisco Police Department, who witnessed the attack, attempted to intervene and was also stabbed by the suspect. The off-duty officer, who was armed, shot the suspect in self-defense.

Arriving South San Francisco P.D. officers attempted to gain compliance and take the suspect into custody, but he continued to fight despite already having been shot. Attempts to apprehend the suspect using Tasers were unsuccessful, and the suspect was able to gain access to one of the responding officer’s patrol cars and flee the scene.

A pursuit was initiated and the suspect was chased to the Kaiser Permanente medical facility on Hickey Boulevard in Daly City, where he attempted to drive through the gates to the parking garage. The suspect then rammed a pursuing police vehicle before exiting the stolen police vehicle. He again confronted officers with the knife and refused to comply with multiple commands to surrender.

The officers were forced to shoot the suspect and immediately rendered first aid until medical personnel arrived. The suspect was unable to be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both the victim of the carjacking and the off-duty San Francisco police officer were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries and are expected to fully recover.

No South San Francisco police officers were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the Daly City Police Department and the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Police officers will probably be charged for excessive use of force.

Glad he kept his scum-baggery outside of Antioch. Even happier that he can’t do it again.

Why it is that many times it’s some ANTIOCH POS who gets in trouble in another part of the bay area? It’s bad enough that they screw up our neighborhoods, but then they travel elsewhere to do the same thing! What attracts this garbage to Antioch in the first place?

Hmmm…maybe those huge 5 bedroom houses along Lone Tree/Hillcrest that these vulture c.s bought for nothing 10 yrs ago and just aren’t satisfied with potentially making 150%profit stubbornly rent them out to section 8. Or maybe it’s the School Board that feels obligated to fill classroom with kids not from Antioch?
