by ECT

Shortly before 9:00 am Saturday, Antioch Police officers attempted to make contact with a 19-year-old male wanted with a warrant. Upon spotting the officers, the man fled from police.

The foot pursuit occurred on DiMaggio where the subject entered the Delta de Anza Regional Trail and ended up going into the canal.

Police immediately called for support from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District for a water rescue. Prior to CONFIRE arriving, police were able to pull the subject from the water and took him into custody.

According to Antioch Police, they attempted to stop the subject Thursday evening in the area of Silverado. Police said they had a very short high speed pursuit before the subject bailed out of the vehicle and fled. Police cited the female with him and towed the vehicle.

Police stated on top of his warrant charges, felony and other charges have been added by running from officers. Police did not provide details of his original charges.
