Antioch: Man Cited After Hitting Female in the Face, Charges at Her With Hammer

On October 25 at 11:40 pm Antioch Police responded to a report of dispute where a male struck a female in the face while charging at her with a hammer.

Police say that the victim and her mother went to recover a stolen bike from a house on W. 4th Street.

As they were trying to leave with the bike, Jerry Bennett, 54, charged at them with a hammer and swung at the victim striking her in the face. The victim’s mother has a restraining order against Bennett. They fled the area for their safety and Bennett also fled the scene.

The victim had complaint of pain but refused treatment at the scene and had no visible injury.

According to Antioch Police Sgt. Fuhrmann, the end result was that Bennett was issued a citation for violating a restraining order and the case will be direct filed with the DA as a misdemeanor.

This story is written very vague on the most important detail, the hammer. Was he holding it, swinging it, brandishing it or just putting up fence boards with it. Am i missing something here?
