In early September of 2018, a series of strong – arm robberies occurred in the Portola District of San Francisco. The suspect in these robberies approached female victims who were walking by themselves and used force in the commission of the crimes. Investigators received reports of incidents at the following locations:

  • September 5, 2018 at 10:15 AM; Bacon Street and Hamilton Street
  • September 7, 2018 at 3:21 PM; 500 block of Holyoke Street
  • September 9, 2018 at 12:40 PM; Bacon Street and University Street
  • September 10, 3018 at 12:55 AM; Woolsey Street and Girard Street

The San Francisco Police Department’s Robbery Detail began an investigation that led to the identity of the suspect. On September 14, 2018 at approximately 12:35 PM, members of the SFPD Robbery Detail and the Antioch Police Department arrested the suspect, 29 year – old Michael Crayton , in the area of the 4100 block of Lone Tree Way in Antioch, CA.

Search warrants served on Crayton’s car and residence in Antioch resulted in the discovery of evidence from an unreported robbery that occurred in San Francisco on September 11, 2018. Crayton was booked in San Francisco on charges of five counts of robbery, two counts of battery with serious injuries and one count of aggravated assault. Due to pending identification matters, Crayton’s booking photo is not being released at this time.

San Francisco Police said this quick and successful completion of this investigation would not have been possible without the assistance of Portola neighborhood residents and business owners who provided surveillance video to investigators.

While an arrest has been made, this remains an open investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD 24 Hour Tip Line at (415) 575 – 4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.

Good job coppers. Antioch City Council, HELLO, another negative for your city. Get a clue, renaming streets and rebranding the image is bullshit. Hire more cops, and support them. Enough said.
