One of our readers provided us with a picture of this suspect who siphoned gas out of their vehicle and stole a couple Netflix videos sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning.  If you recognize this suspect, please contact Antioch PD. This incident occurred in the Lake Alhambra area near Hillcrest.

Here is the message from our reader:

This is a picture of the criminal that siphoned the gas out of my truck and stole our Netflix movies from the mail slot in our front door on Sunday night/Monday morning at 12:15am. This occurred on Hillcrest Avenue on Lake Alhambra. This pic was taken with a cell phone off of our video surveillance monitor so it’s not the best quality, but you can make out basic features. It’s possible this guy also committed more crimes in the neighborhood on this same night. If you recognize this person, please either contact me here on Fb or contact Officer Dee at the APD. Thank you. (yes, the Antioch Police Department already has all of our video footage from the crime)

Martin, what neighborhood do you live in? You’re sure this is the same guy? I’m the one who submitted this story and picture to East County Today. Just curious if he’s the same guy and what neighborhood you’re in. Thanks!

Interesting, Marvin! We live on Lake Alhambra over on Hillcrest so he seems to be making his rounds, doesn’t he? Do you also have him on video surveillance? Did you catch any type of vehicle he may have been in? It sort of looked like he was walking toward a get-away vehicle and we did see someone pull out from around the corner next to our house and drive away slowly after he left our driveway. Unfortunately, it was difficult to make out the type of vehicle. I’ve heard on a few different sites (Facebook, etc.) that some other people believe this is the same guy who has cut gas tanks and siphoned gas in other locations. So he’s making his rounds. Not so sure the cops will do much, which sort of explains why he didn’t seem to care about our security cameras. He was very matter-of-fact about what he was doing…brought his own supplies to siphon the gas and had some serious balls to walk right through our front gate and onto our front porch to steal our mail. I have, however, filed a report with the Postal Service since he stole our mail as well as siphoned my gas. The USPS is a separate entity that will launch an investigation of their own and from what I understand, stealing mail is a federal offense. Granted, this is not some horrific, violent crime and it doesn’t take top priority by any means, but it would be nice to stop this jerk. Thanks for your response!

I’d like to see extended video on Youtube. . .you never know when an angle will change and suddenly someone will recognize something about the person. The way they move is often distinctive enough to trigger a memory.

Nadia, we did think about posting it on Youtube, however we ultimately decided that it would not be in our best interest to show anyone what our cameras do and do not pick up, where they are focused, any weak spots, and what we see when we look at our monitor.
