Antioch: Firefighters Battle Vegetation Fire off Hillcrest Ave

At around 4:00 pm, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire on Hillcrest Avenue at Wildflower Drive in the City of Antioch.

While responding, firefighters reported smoke showing and as they approached the scene, said it appeared in the construction zone and were directed in by construction crews.

Engine 88 reported the fire was burning up to the fence on Lilly Court (a new street), however, there was no exposures to homes. The fire was less than 1/4 acre.

It was reported there would be heavy overhaul due to erosion hay bales.

Back on July 9, there was also a vegetation fire at this location.

Did the fire start by itself? Just like that? Spontaneous combustion? Odd!
