by ECT

Monday morning at roughly 11:15 am, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of smoke and flames coming from the roof of a two-story home in the 4000 block of Bole Court in Antioch off Bluerock Drive and Caldera Way.

When firefighters arrived, they located smoke and flames coming out of a window and called for a second-alarm response. By 11:40 am the fire was declared under control.

According to radio traffic, by 11:42 am, the fire was knocked down and 1-person with a “traumatic injury” was being transported to a local hospital.

According to CONFIRE spokesperson George Laing, the injury was not sustained as a result of the fire, however, it was a result of someone trying to gain access to the structure from the outside. That is currently under investigation and Laing would not elaborate further.

Laing highlighted that the cause of the fire is still under investigation and that extensive overhaul was needed due to the tile roof which had solar panels on them saying that complicated fire suppression efforts because those are still charged lines.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation with the home receiving heavy smoke and flame damage on the second story and roof with water and smoke damage on the first story of the home.

A dog that was locked in a cage outside was uninjured in the incident and no firefighters were hurt. No neighboring homes were damaged.

Antioch Police and AMR also responded to the incident.
