At 11:54 am Saturday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of smoke and flames coming from a home on the 1600 block of San Jose drive in Antioch.
Units reported smoking showing from Stations 82 and 81 as well as on scene of another incident on Pintail Dr. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 8 reported smoke and flames inside the home.
According to the Battalion Chief on scene, children were home at the time the fire was reported and they safely exited the home before firefighters arrived. Preliminary information is that firefighters believe the fire began from a Christmas Tree which soon caught the living room on fire which then reached the attic.
The incident shut down San Jose Drive while crews worked at St. Francis Drive and Alamo Ct. CONFIRE is still investigating the blaze. Firefighters were on scene for just over 2-hours.
